5 Conservative Hollywood Celebrities to Celebrate

We are bombarded every day with speeches from actresses like Scarlett Johansson and Emma Watson who preach Third-Wave Feminism and support for Planned Parenthood. Hollywood is nearly synonymous with ‘liberal,’ ‘feminism,’ and ‘pro-choice. Fortunately, Hollywood is not a pure monolith.

What follows is a list of some conservative Hollywood celebrities that have spoken their support for the pro-life movement, the military, and their Christian faith, among other topics. Hopefully, these celebrities can be a strong counter-voice, challenging the orthodox Hollywood liberalism.

  1. Jack Nicholson

Few know that Jack Nicholson was almost never born. His mother, June Francis Nicholson, was 17 years old and a showgirl when she had him. Jack never found out who his father was; only June and his grandmother, Ethel, knew.

Jack was raised by his grandparents, believing they were his parents and June was his older sister. It wasn’t until many years later that they revealed the truth to him. In an interview in 1984, he was quoted on his stance on abortion saying, “I’m positively against it, I don’t have the right to any other view…without June and Ethel, I never would have gotten to live.”

  2. Gary Sinise

Most will recognize Gary Sinise from his role as Lt. Dan in the award-winning film Forrest Gump, but he has been an advocate for the military and for freedom since the early 1980s when he volunteered and supported Vietnam veterans. His portrayal of Lt. Dan forged a connection in the military community, and in 2011, he established the Gary Sinise Foundation to serve and honor all military men and women, first responders, and their families through outreach programs. On his website, he says, “We can never do enough to support our nation’s military. We can always do a little more.”

  3. Patricia Heaton

Patricia Heaton, known for her role as Debra Barone on Everybody Loves Raymond, is an outspoken Christian, pro-life advocate, against the death penalty and euthanasia, and has historically campaigned for Republican presidential candidates. She was made an honorary co-chair of Feminists for Life, a group dedicated to finding and eliminating the causes that drive women to abortion.

  4. Celine Dion

Celine Dion has performed many award-winning songs, her most famous being “My Heart Will Go On” from the movie Titanic. Dion is staunchly pro-life, speaking about her experience with her abortion and the role it played in her life. Her own mother briefly considered an abortion after bringing up 13 other children. However, after a meeting with the local priest, Celine’s mother decided against it and, according to Celine, “She loved me as passionately as she’d loved the last little ones.”

  5. Denzel Washington

Arguably one of the best actors of our time, Denzel Washington is a dedicated family man with many conservative values. Washington has been married to the same woman since 1983, which is refreshing to see in the “who’s dating who” culture that runs rampant through Hollywood. A father of four, he was quoted by the Washington Times saying that the problem with black incarceration isn’t the system, but that it starts in the home: “It starts with how you raise your children. If a young man doesn’t have a father figure, he’s going to find one.”

It’s good to know that Hollywood isn’t entirely skewed left, that there are a few stars who still cling to their conservative ideals of family, life, and liberty.
